Targeted Covid-19 screening in Petaling to begin end-April

By Mustakim Ramli

SHAH ALAM, April 22 — The targeted community Covid-19 screenings in the Petaling district is expected to begin at the end of the month, says Selcare Clinic manager Mohd Noor Md Nasir.

He said suitable locations to set up the screenings are being identified in order to prevent the emergence of new clusters, especially involving school staff and students.

“Discussions are being held with the State Education Department, district office and the Selangor Task Force Operation for Covid-19 (STFO).

“Once we have identified the locations within a week, we will then immediately carry out the screening operation,” he said when contacted.

Yesterday, Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said targeted Covid-19 screenings will be held in Petaling following the increase in cases and the closure of 19 schools in the district beginning Monday.

He said the initiative was to trace the virus within the community and curb the fourth wave of Covid-19.

The state government had allocated RM6 million to hold the free Covid-19 community screening initiative to curb the pandemic.
