SHAH ALAM, May 10 — A total of 227 positive Covid-19 cases were detected from the free community screenings held in four state constituencies on Saturday and Sunday, says Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

The Menteri Besar said the testing operations saw a total participation of 4,429 individuals.

A total of 3,646 people had pre-registered via the SELangkah app or website for the two-day programme while the remaining 786 had registered with the help of the healthcare workers.

“The targetted Covid-19 community screening is the state government’s main initiative to protect the people of Selangor and to break the chain of infection.

“This enables early tracing of the infection followed by providing necessary treatment for those who were tested positive,” he said on a Facebook post today.

Amirudin added that the free community testing will continue and information on the initiative will be updated from time to time.

Those interested to take part in the programme can register via the SELangkah app for visit screening.selangkah.my/login.

Yesterday, the screening operations were held simultaneously in Kajang and Semenyih, and in Sungai Ramal and Balakong on Saturday.

Selcare Clinic manager Mohd Noor Md Nasir had yesterday said that some 80 per cent of the positive Covid-19 cases traced during Selangor’s free community screening drive were found to be asymptomatic.

The Selangor government is conducting a monitoring programme from May 8 to June 10 to trace active Covid-19 cases in the state.
