KAJANG, May 2 — A Covid-19 vaccine centre will be opened at the Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC) in Shah Alam to expedite the vaccination process.

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Amirudin Shari said this is the first time the state government handles it and involves AstraZeneca vaccination for individuals who had volunteered for it.

“Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin had contacted the state government and we agreed to open it.

“This will help the vaccination process and we found that certain groups had agreed to be vaccinated,” he said at the key handover ceremony for Rumah SelangorKu Residensi Adelia here today.

Amirudin said the vaccine centre is currently being equipped and will be operational soon under the administration of the Petaling District Office.

“The Covid-19 Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park (MAEPS) in Serdang will be converted to accommodate Intensive Care Unit (ICU) patients.

“The state government will try to provide the necessary facilities. But the most important thing is that we must speed up the vaccination programme,” he said.
