SHAH ALAM, June 22 — A total of 18 river pollution incidents, that could suspend water treatment plants (WTPs) operations, were successfully resolved from January till yesterday.

Selangor Management Water Authority (Luas) in a statement said currently no pollutions cases were recorded during that period.

“Luas constantly mobilise its Rapid Squad to carry out 24-hour monitoring in water sources sensitive areas at Sungai Selangor, Sungai Langat and Sungai Klang basins, even during the movement control order (MCO) 3.0 period.

“This action is to prevent water sources pollution incidents from occurring and to minimise the risk of suspending WTP operation, as well as in continuing to preserve the state’s water resources,” it said.

Luas calls on public members to lodge complaints on suspicious activities that can lead to pollution of water sources via WhatsApp at 019-2647904 or email to [email protected].

Based on last year record, Luas has successfully resolved 19 out of 29 water pollution cases. However, the remaining 10 cases had forced WTPs to suspend operations that led to unscheduled water supply disruption to consumers
