MB: 6,219 applications approved for RM20 transport rebate to vaccination centres

SHAH ALAM, July 30 The Selangor government has approved a total of 6,219 applications for the RM20 rebate for using e-hailing Grab rides to vaccination centres (PPVs), as of July 25.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said some 8,704 applications were submitted for the transport rebate incentive.

“A total of 2,113 Grab rebate vouchers have been redeemed by the Selangor people used to travel to the PPVs.

“The Grab RM20 rebate is part of the incentive to encourage and facilitate the people in getting vaccinated against Covid-19. The initiative was announced in the Kita Selangor Package 2.0 with a total allocation of RM1 million,” said Amirudin in a Facebook post yesterday, adding that the state has so far spent a total cost of RM43,260 for the initiative.

Applications for the transport rebate programme of RM10 for a one-way trip of RM20 for a round trip was open from June 20 for rides to all PPV in the state and Kuala Lumpur between July 1 and September 30.

Previously, the initiative was only open to those aged 50 and above. The expansion of the service to all age groups is expected to benefit almost 50,000 individuals statewide.
