Bukit Gasing provides 1,000 subsidised Covid-19 self-test kits

SHAH ALAM, Aug 16 — The Bukit Gasing state constituency is providing 1,000 saliva-based Covid-19 self-test kits sold at RM10 each to its constituents.

Its representative R Rajiv said the slashed price of the kits is cheaper than what is on the market and each individual is allowed to purchase a maximum of five kits.

“We decided to subsidise the self-test kit as a way to encourage the people to do the Covid-19 screening at home.

“We understand that certain people are afraid to undergo swab tests at the clinics therefore we hope the community would grab the chance to get the kits as it is cheaper than the market price of between RM30 to RM40,” he said when contacted by SelangorKini.

Those who are interested in purchasing the kit may do so at Bukit the Gasing community service centre on Monday to Friday from 10am to 5pm.

On August 12, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari had announced that starting September, the state will distribute 60,000 free saliva-based Covid-19 self-test kits to family members of Covid-19 positives and high-risk individuals in the state.

The screening kit will be distributed to the 56 community service centres and the state constituency coordinator offices across Selangor.
