Cops keeping watch on SOP compliance as more places open up

SHAH ALAM, Sept 13 — The police will not hesitate to suggest to the relevant authorities to shut down any recreational premises that do not comply with the standard operating procedures (SOP).

Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order (KDNKA) deputy director Datuk Mastor Mohd Ariff said his team is actively doing surveillance on SOP compliance in the Klang Valley, according to Berita Harian.

“The police understand the excitement felt by many people in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya to be able to visit parks, beaches and other places of interest again. However, we are always monitoring these places and we advise everyone to comply with the rules of social distancing.

“If we find too many people within the confines of one place, we will not pause to shut it down,” he said.

On Friday, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya had transitioned to phase two of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) and those who have completed two doses of their vaccination have been given more freedom to move about.

Long-distance couples have been given permission to visit each other across state lines, and parents can now visit their children in another state who are under 18.

People who are fully vaccinated can also dine in at restaurants and food stalls. Hotels and homestays too, can begin to accept guests.
