UPKK to be held from Nov 15 to 18 — Idris Ahmad

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 7 — The written test for this year’s KAFA Class Assessment Test (UPKK) scheduled from October 4 to 7 has been postponed to November 15 to 18, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Idris Ahmad announced today.

He said the postponement was made after taking into account the current situation as well as the review from the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education and the decision made by the National Security Council on September 6 last year.

On August 15, Senior Minister of Education Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin said schools will reopen on October 3 in stages under the National Recovery Plan (NRP) starting with students in their exam years namely Form Five and Form Six.

In line with the decision, Idris said the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) would open the school session for UPKK examination candidates on the same date.

“To ensure the safety and health of the students as well as the preparation of the examination centres, the UPKK 2021 examination for written subjects scheduled for October 4 to 7 has been postponed,” he said in a statement today.

In November last year, Datuk Seri Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri who was then the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) was reported to have said that the 2020 UPKK test would be conducted simultaneously with this year’s candidates from October 4 to October 7, involving five written subjects namely Ulum Syariah (Aqidah and Ibadah), Sirah, Jawi and Khat, Adab and Lughah Al-Quran.

Meanwhile, Idris said Jakim in collaboration with all agencies had prepared an action plan to ensure the examination would run smoothly, adding that only examination officers who have completed their Covid-19 vaccination would be allowed to be on duty at the examination centres.
