SHAH ALAM, Nov 8 — Members of the Selangor government’s Skim Mesra Usia Emas (SMUE) registered under the Rawang state constituency can redeem the Jom Shopping vouchers beginning today.
A total of 3,387 recipients, who are elderly people and person’s with different abilities aged 21 years and above born between July and December, are eligible for the RM100 shopping voucher, which is redeemable at the Rawang community service centre.
Its state representative Chua Wei Kiat said the distribution of the voucher was delayed due to the enforcement of the movement control order (MCO 3.0) earlier this year.
“With the voucher, the SMUE members would be able to shop at the selected stores,” he told SelangorKini when contacted yesterday.
Checks can be made via the website at smue.yawas.my/admin/online_semakan.php.
On October 30 last year, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari had announced that the “wang khairat kematian” or death benefit payments for its citizens would resume after it was discontinued in May 2019.
During the tabling of the previous state budget, Amirudin announced that the aid programme through SMUE was reinstated with a total allocation of RM7.5 million for the RM500 payment per person.
The state government had also set aside RM20 million for the Jom Shopping programme under SMUE.
