MB lauds efforts to seize illegal factory

By Zareef Muzammil

SHAH ALAM, Nov 16 — The Menteri Besar has lauded the Hulu Selangor Municipal Council (MPHS) action in raiding an unlicensed factory operating in the Sungai Choh Industrial area, Serendah.

Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari wants the local authorities to continue their effort to combat illegal factory activities.

“Congratulations to MPHS on the enforcement. Continue the effort to combat illegal factories,” he said in a Facebook post today.

He was commenting on a report by SelangorKini on MPHS’s seizure of the illegal factory and confiscation of 56 aluminium bars worth RM300,000, on November 9.

Amirudin said the state government has intensified its efforts to tackle illegal factory activities since early this year.

“Demolition and compound enforcement have been stepped up in all districts and areas to ensure the illegal factory could be eradicated,” he said.

During the inspection, the premise was subject to the action in accordance with the provisions of By-Laws 3 and 38 of the Trade, Business and Industry By-Laws (MDHS) 2007.

Apart from the bars, other items seized included eight gas tanks; five forklifts; four monitors, keyboards and computers, respectively; three printers and one digital scale were also confiscated.

Two workers of Chinese nationality were also detained as they failed to provide legal documents during the operation.
