SHAH ALAM, Nov 23 — The Federal and Selangor governments have managed to mutually agree on various outstanding issues related to the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project.

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong said the assent was reached following a positive and fruitful meeting with Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, yesterday.

Wee said both parties were able to find the best balance moving forward to ensure the project can progress successfully and bring the best value for the country.

“Both sides also agree that today’s meeting demonstrates a good way forward for greater cooperation between the Federal and State governments on infrastructure issues.

“The most important driver for us is to develop facilities and infrastructure that would bring the greatest benefit to the people.

“This proves that we can work together for the common good for the future of Malaysia,” he said on Facebook.

Also present at the meeting were Selangor State Secretary Datuk Haris Kasim, Transport Ministry secretary-general Datuk Isham Ishak and Malaysia Rail Link (MRL) Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Seri Darwis Abdul Razak.

Wee added that further information will be updated as soon as both parties have sorted out the details.

On October 18, the Menteri Besar said Selangor remains firm in choosing the southern alignment of the ECRL involving Hulu Langat, Sepang and West Port areas.

Amirudin said the state administration is adamant with the decision, despite the Federal government’s wish to continue the construction via the northern alignment.
