District disaster units activated following floods in Kapar, Klang

SHAH ALAM, Dec 18 — The district disaster units and temporary relief centres (PPS) have been activated following the floods incidents in Kapar and Klang.

Selangor Menteri Besar’s political secretary, Juwairiya Zulkifli said the PPS are managed by the disaster operations control centre which will mobilise all related agencies.

“The agencies include the Malaysian Civil Defense Department (JPAM), the Fire and Rescue Department, the Social and Welfare Department (JKM), the Royal Malaysian Police (RMP), the District Health Office as well as the Villages Head office.

“Stay safe everyone,” she said on Twitter today while adding the affected residents may also contact their respective Community Service Centres.

Earlier today, some 1,011 flash floods victims were evacuated and transferred to three PPS namely in Sekolah Kebangsaan Telok Gong, Masjid As-Islah and Masjid Al-Ubudiah.

Yesterday, a total of 20 areas in Klang were affected by flash floods following heavy rain that lasted for several hours.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis said other affected areas are Pulau Indah, Pandamaran, Bandar Botanik, Telok Gadong, Bandar Sultan Suleiman and Bukit Tinggi.
