More than 2,000 flood-hit families receive cash aid — MB

SHAH ALAM, Dec 31 — A total of 2,258 families affected by the floods have received cash aid under the Selangor Bangkit initiative as of yesterday, says Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

Amirudin said the RM1,000 cash aid involved funding that amounted to RM2.258 million.

Apart from that, he said, two families of victims who died in the recent floods had each received RM10,000.

“As of December 30, 2,258 families have received Selangor Bangkit cash aid of RM1,000, and a total of RM2.258 million has been disbursed.

“Besides that, two families of victims who died in the recent floods had received RM10,000 each as announced on December 21,” he said via Twitter.

The Selangor government had on December 21 announced a total allocation of RM100 million in funds under the Selangor Bangkit initiative, following the major flood incident in the state due to heavy continuous rain from December 17 to 19.

Apart from infrastructural recovery, the initiative also includes RM10,000 aid to the next of kin of each victim who died in the recent floods and a RM1,000 cash aid to the heads of families to help restore their homes.

Individuals eligible to receive assistance include victims who were relocated to temporary relief centres (PPS) and those who remained at their homes during the flood.
