Ng Sze Han: Bulk garbage stations set up to hasten cleanup efforts

By Mustakim Ramli

SHAH ALAM, Dec 26 — 11 temporary transfer stations (TS) for bulk garbage have been opened to expedite post-flood cleaning work, said state executive councillor for local government Ng Sze Han.

He said all TS encompass four local authorities, including the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA), the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKJ), the Sepang Municipal Council (MPSepang), and the Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ).

“All the TS are being used optimally with over 50 bulldozers and excavators operating at the stations.

“The state government wishes to thank the NGOs and private contractors who assisted in the post-flood cleaning operations in Selangor,” Ng said in a statement.

The TS under MBSA are located in Section 21, Section 34, Kampung Lombong, and Section 25. Those under MPKJ are located in Sungai Lui, Batu 14 Hulu Langat, and Reserve Kubor in Nanding

MPSepang’s TS include the ones in Taman Emas Dengkil, Taman Lestari Mewah in Jenderam, and Business Park in Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi. MBSJ’s TS is located in Bukit Lanchong.

He said there have been reports of garbage being disposed of in public areas, including by the side of highways or zones not classified as TS.

“This will make it more difficult to carry out cleaning work, where KDEB Waste Management or the local authorities are forced to clean these areas, thus delaying their post-flood cleaning work.

“The state government hopes all quarters are able to cooperate in disposing of post-flood waste at the nearest TS. They can also directly bring it to the Tanjung Dua Belas waste disposal site in Kuala Langat, or the Jeram waste disposal site in Kuala Selangor,” Ng said.

He added no fee will be charged at both disposal sites for bulk garbage caused by the flooding disaster.
