Pandemic results in postponing of Sabak Bernam parking fees’ implementation

By Amin Ridzuan Ishak

SHAH ALAM, Dec 14 — The implementation of parking fees in Sabak Bernam district’s central area has been postponed to a later date.

Sabak Bernam District Council (MDSB) corporate communication officer Noraini Ahmad said the matter was decided during the recent committee meeting.

Originally meant to start on January 1, 2022, she said the postponement was made to ease the public following the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The parking fees, including digital payment, were initially meant to be enforced in central areas. However we have decided to postpone the implementation first so we can focus on helping those badly hit by the coronavirus.

“MDSB will announce the new date, once we have finalised the decision,” Noraini said when contacted today.

Previously, the state government said the paid parking spot will be implemented in MDSB administrative areas, including in Pekan Sabak, Sekinchan and Sungai Besar.

The suggestion came about in light of the fact these areas have become a focal point, with many banking premises around.
