Team Selangor launches programme to increase volunteers’ skills

SHAH ALAM, Dec 6 — The newly-launced MyCatalyz programme by volunteer NGO Team Selangor has managed to form over 50,000 members into community catalysts.

Its senior manager Sadina Suffian said the initiative will provide members with training and courses, so they can become more professional and willing to step forward.

“We will implement workshops in stages, beginning next January. They will be taught how to resolve problems, as well as communicate with society, corporations and certain agencies.

“We want them to know the direction of Team Selangor as volunteers, more clearly. This will also increase self-skills and confidence,” she said during the programme’s launch and meeting at Dewan Megawati yesterday.

The programme was also officiated by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

Sadina said MyCatalyz provides a major benefit to young generations, as they will decide the nation’s future.

“We need brave individuals to solve society’s problems. Not just depend on government agencies or certain people, we want an active generation,” she said.

Team Selangor, formed five years ago, is among the volunteer groups which frequently step up to assist Selangorians in difficult times.

Among their services include volunteering at state vaccination centres, cleaning the homes of flood victims, as well as carry out gotong-royong activities to encourage society in preserving the environment.
