SHAH ALAM, Jan 23 — A total of 43,112 families affected by the floods in Selangor have received the RM1,000 cash aid under the Bantuan Selangor Bangkit (BSB) programme, as of 10am today.

In a Facebook post, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said approximately RM43.232 million has been allocated for the programme so far.

Amirudin also shared an infographic about the programme’s distributions summary alongside his post.

Based on the information stated, twelve families of flood victims who perished during the disaster also received RM10,000 in cash aid each.

The Klang district recorded the highest number of recipients with 11,888 families, followed by Petaling (11,241 families) and Hulu Langat with 7,120 families.

The cash aid was also distributed to 5,279 families in Kuala Langat, 3,966 in Sepang, Kuala Selangor (2,588), Gombak (898), Hulu Selangor (93) and 39 families in Sabak Bernam.

Earlier today, Amirudin announced the state has received 70,000 applications for BSB and has disbursed more than half of it.

He stressed the state has the financial capability to distribute the cash aid despite previously targetting 30,000 recipients.

On December 21 last year, the state government allocated RM100 million in funds under the BSB programme, following the severe floods that affected eight districts in the state.

Eligible recipients include flood victims who were relocated to registered PPS, private PPS, and those who chose to remain with their homes.

Earlier on, Amirudin said the disbursement of the cash aid is expected to be completed by the end of this month.
