MBI allocates a million to repair schools’ amenities, fund student activities

GOMBAK, Feb 24 — Approximately RM1 million has been allocated by Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI to ensure school and student-related programmes are a success this year.

Its corporate social responsibility head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said the allocation encompasses RM500,000 for school infrastructural development, and another RM500,000 for Parent and Teacher Association (PIBG) programmes.

“This inaugural special allocation was made, after many requests from schools and PIBGs. Before this we had various categories, however this year we were more specific, as we already had allocations for schools.

“When we saw the demand, we decided to make a special category for schools,” he said following his visit to Sekolah Rendah Agama An Nasihin in Kampung Sungai Kertas and to Sekolah Kebangsaan SK Taman Samudra here, earlier today.

Ahmad Azri added MBI will also receive requests for assistance from schools which were affected by the severe floods that hit Selangor in December last year.

“If there is any need for roof and fence repairs, applications can be made for infrastructural development, and the same goes for PIBG programmes involving students and sports,” he said.

Last year MBI allocated RM30 million for a variety of social, health, and education programmes, including Data Internet Selangor, the Tuisyen Rakyat Selangor programme, transportation rebates to travel to vaccination centres, Back to School programmes, and aid in conjunction with Deepavali and Christmas.
