MBSJ takes swift action to address foul stench in Taman Kinrara

SUBANG JAYA, Feb 26 — Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) has taken immediate steps to address the foul smell emanating from a vacant plot of land at Jalan TK 4/10, Taman Kinrara 4 here.

Its Corporate and Strategic Management Department deputy director Azfarizal Abdul Rashid said upon receiving a report on Thursday, the council had immediately appointed Worldwide Holding Sdn Bhd to address the problem.

“The company is carrying out work to identify the source of the liquid in the soil as well as carry out the process of removing and treating the liquid based on their expertise.

“The process started yesterday involving workers digging several wells to contain the liquid in the soil and then sucking the contaminated liquid out into a tanker truck before it is disposed of,” he said.

He said this to Selangorkini after visiting the site yesterday afternoon.

Azfarizal added that the work is expected to be completed within three weeks with the cost of the operation borne by the landowner.

He said the cause of the smell was due to illegal garbage disposal activities on the abandoned site and it was first detected about two months ago.

“Compounds have been issued to the landowner,” he said.
