MB: Digital school grads have opportunity for careers abroad

SHAH ALAM, March 24 — Graduates of the Selangor Digital School (SDS) stand a chance at exploring wider job opportunities, including abroad, after concluding their studies, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said they would also be given certificates of recognition which can be used to further their studies at a higher level.

“The certificate can be used to obtain employment both domestically and internationally and apply for jobs in government-linked companies, the private sector, and the public sector,” Amirudin said.

He spoke at the signing of the memorandum of understanding on SDS’ establishment between Universiti Selangor dan The Hive Southeast Asia, at the State Secretariat Building earlier today.

The Menteri Besar added that SDS, which will be launched in August, offers short-term course studies, diplomas and bachelor’s degrees in the digitisation sector with part of the tuition fees sponsored by the state government.

“Teaching and learning sessions that can be conducted face-to-face or online will depend on the (individual) student’s needs. Part of the education cost will also be sponsored to relieve students of their burden,” Amirudin said.

During the 2022 Selangor Budget tabling last year, SDS’ establishment was announced via the Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) as a digital and technology learning platform to fulfil the job market within that sector.

Penjana Nasional is expected to provide matching investment alongside the state government and The Hive and offer teaching staff, building state-of-the-art hybrid learning systems, and conducive digital marketing.
