SHAH ALAM, March 1 — The state government takes a serious view of the planning and development in Selangor by taking into account the environmental impact.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said both aspects should be balanced and given attention to bring about green lifestyle practices and reduce carbon emissions.
He added that the initiative would also expedite Selangor’s transition into a low-carbon state.
“Local authorities and the private sector need to play a role in determining the development pattern, taking into consideration the physical, economic, and social aspects, together with a conducive ecosystem,” Amirudin said during the prize-giving ceremony for the Government Complex, Glc Development And Commercial Component Proposal Design Competition, at the Shah Alam Convention Centre earlier today.
Also in attendance was state financial officer Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin and Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad (PNSB) chief executive officer Raja Ahmad Shahrir Iskandar Raja Salim.
During the ceremony, the Menteri Besar presented a RM50,000 cash prize and a trophy and certificate to AJC Planning Consultants Sdn Bhd, the winner of the competition organised in November last year.
Amirudin also hailed PNSB’s initiative to explore and identify iconic landmarks in Seksyen 5, where they plan to house the offices of state-owned subsidiary companies and commercial centres.
“A strategic location is innovative and will boost Shah Alam city’s status to become more systematic, up-to-date, and efficient,” he said.
