SHAH ALAM, March 23 — The second phase of the post-flood clean-up operations carried out by KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) in Selangor has reached 80 per cent.

Its managing director Ramli Mohd Tahir said areas that have been fully cleared are Subang Jaya, Puchong, Kampug Sri Aman, Kampung Tengah, Kampung Sungai Baru, Kampung Kenangan and Sri Langkas.

“We expect the second phase clean-up operations to be completed by this month. We are working hard to finish it soon for fear that it will rain and lead to flooding again.

“The remaining 20 per cent are in Taman Sri Muda, Taman Kinrara, Hulu Langat and Klang, which involves clearing out the clogged drains and ditches,” he told SelangorKini.

KDEBWM, a subsidiary company of the state government that fully-manages domestic waste collection, has been endeavouring to clear flood-affected areas since December 20 last year in stages.

Approximately 78,000 metric tonnes of bulk waste have been cleared, with cooperation from the local authorities and other agencies, fully concluding on January 7.

Starting on January 8, the company has been carrying out the second phase of the clean-up operations, focusing on decontamination and clearing out clogged drains and ditches using effective microbiology technology.
