SHAH ALAM, March 25 — The Selangor government has offered a total of 11,967 lots in 238 locations in the state for this year’s Ramadan bazaar.

State executive councillor for local government Ng Sze Han said the 12 local councils in Selangor had received some 10,783 applications with 9,720 of the total approved.

He said the highest application recorded was received by the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) with 2,219 applicants, followed by the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) (1,790) and Kuala Langat Municipal Council (MPKL) (1,031).

“The number of applicants in MPKj, MPS and the Sepang Municipal Council had surpassed the number of total lots provided for the bazaars,” said Ng, citing that 2,219 applications were submitted to MPS, which had allocated 1,782 lots.

“The offer made had taken into account the severity of the transmission of the Covid-19 Omicron variant, which had spread in the country since early this year,” said Ng.

He said those who could not secure a lot are urged to apply under other local councils that offer more lots, such as the Shah Alam City Council, Subang Jaya City Council, Ampang Municipal Council, Kuala Selangor Municipal Council and Hulu Selangor Municipal Council.

Meanwhile, Ng had reminded the traders and visitors to always adhere to the health guidelines set by the Health Ministry and the National Security Council to curb the spread of Covid-19.

“The standard operating procedures which were announced in 2021 is applicable in this year’s Ramadan bazaars.

“The state government strongly encourages business activities at the Ramadan bazaars, in line with the government’s efforts to generate and revive the Covid-19 post-pandemic economy,” the statement read.
