Warning of thunderstorms in Klang Valley, five other states until evening

SHAH ALAM, March 14 — Thunderstorms with heavy rain and strong winds have been forecast to hit the Klang Valley and five other states today.

In a Facebook post, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the storms would occur from 3pm to 7pm in Kuala Lumpur and several districts in Selangor, namely Hulu Selangor Gombak, Petaling and Hulu Langat.

The same weather condition will also occur in Perlis, Kedah, Perak and Johor.

In Sabah, the department stated that the weather condition is expected to occur from 1pm to 5pm.

According to MetMalaysia, the warning is issued when there are signs of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm/hour or is expected to take place for over an hour.

“Thunderstorms warning is a short-term warning which is valid within six hours after it is issued,” the statement read, issued at noon.
