MB: Tax exemption for local artistes in Selangor for one year

SHAH ALAM, April 8 — The state government has agreed to an exemption for entertainment duty rates for stage show entrance fees (ticketing) effective this January 1 until December 31.

However, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the decision is not applicable for international artistes.

“The state government also wishes to inform that for the time being there are no entertainment duty charges on busking activities.

“The entertainment duty charge for (non-ticketing) live bands have also been given a year’s exemption from January 1 until December 31,” he said.

Amirudin was speaking at the Rapat Rahmah Ramadan event at the Dewan Jubli Perak earlier today.

He added the decision was made by the State Executive Council Meeting (MMKN) on Wednesday (April 6)

During the State Legislative Assembly session on March 18, the decision as to whether Selangor will reduce or provide an exemption for entertainment taxes for the rest of the was reported to be finalised before April 1.

The Menteri Besar had said the matter needs to be discussed in the MMKN beforehand for more data and refinement.
