SHAH ALAM, April 5 — The Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) has recorded approximately RM633,977 in sales via its Jualan Prihatin Rakyat programme thus far.

Group chief executive officer Mohamad Khairul Mohamad Razi said the figures are based on the sale of products like chicken, eggs beef and fish in 17 state constituencies since February 8.

“Of this amount, approximately RM190.241.10 in discounts have been provided to consumers. We are pleased to know the reception among buyers has been very good and encouraging,” he told SelangorKini.

Mohamad Khairul added that to date, 35,655 chickens, 16,430 boards of eggs, 1,889 kg of fish and 763 kg of beef have been sold in that time period.

“In each constituency up to 800 chickens are prepared, together with 500 boards of eggs, 100 kg of fish and 10 kg of beef,” he said.

The programme is held every weekend in all 64 of Selangor’s constituencies, with the aim of reducing the people’s burden following the rising costs of living. The initiative will carry on until Hari Raya Aidilfitri this year.

Some 10,000 chickens, 3,100 kg of fresh beef, 6,200 kg of mackerel and fly fish (selayang) as well as 315,000 Grade B eggs will be sold throughout the programme.

Via Jualan Prihatin Rakyat, a standard chicken is sold at RM12 apiece, fresh solid beef at RM35 per kg, Grade B eggs for RM10 per board or 24 eggs, with mackerel and fly fish at RM8 per pack.
