Yayasan Selangor sponsors over 300 low-income students

SHAH ALAM, April 12 — A total of 318 Form One students have been selected to continue their studies at schools sponsored by Yayasan Selangor.

The sponsorship is through the Education Ministry – Yayasan Selangor Special Education Plan (RKPYS) programme for the 2022/2023 academic session.

According to the foundation, all the students are from families throughout Selangor earning less than RM2,000 a month and have obtained at least a proficiency level three (TP 3) in all Classroom-Based Assessment (PBD) subjects for Year 6.

“Some 3,838 applications were received for this year and the process was conducted fully online,” Yayasan Selangor said in a statement.

It added for those who were placed at schools under the purview of the Kuala Lumpur Education Department, the students have registered at their representative schools according to arrangements made by the State Education Department on April 4.

“For those who received placement at schools in Selangor, they registered on April 11.

“Meanwhile, the registration for students at the Yayasan Selangor central hostel in Klang and Sabak Bernam was conducted on April 9 and 10,” it said.

The programme which has been organised since 1971 is aimed at helping students from low-income families.

All of the students enjoy various benefits including hostel facilities, scholarships, tuition class as well as academic excellence programmes.
