Dengkil fire victims receive MBI donations

SHAH ALAM, May 30 — Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI handed over some donations in the form of dried foods and drinking water to fire victims in Kampung Jenderam Hilir, Dengkil yesterday.

Its corporate social responsibility head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said MBI also donated children’s diapers to help ease the victims’ affairs.

“We have sent the donations to the village hall that is being used as a temporary evacuation centre. We will also hand over some cash to help reduce their burden in the nearest future.

“At the same time, we have also contacted the Selangor Zakat Board and the Yayasan Islam Darul Ehsan to coordinate further assistance,” he said when contacted today.

Yesterday’s incident saw 25 individuals including five children losing everything after their rented homes caught fire.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis said no casualties were reported in the incident which occurred at 9am, with the cause of the fire still being investigated.
