Several Selangor districts to undergo stormy weather this evening

SHAH ALAM, May 13 — Three districts in Selangor are expected to undergo thunderstorms, strong winds and heavy rains until 8pm today, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

In a warning issued at 4.45pm on Facebook, it said the districts include Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor and Hulu Selangor.

The agency also forecasted similar weather patterns for the whole of Negeri Sembilan and Melaka.

Other states and territories which will be affected by inclement weather include Kedah (Langkawi, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Pendang, Sik, Baling and Bandar Baharu), Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim), Kelantan (Jeli, Tanah Merah, Kuala Krai and Gua Musang), Terengganu (Hulu Terengganu), Pahang (Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Lipis, Raub, Jerantut, Temerloh and Bera).

Similarly Johor (Tangkak and Batu Pahat), Sarawak (Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah (Dalat and Mukah), Kapit, Bintulu, Miri (Marudi) and Limbang as well as Sabah in Pedalaman, Pantai Barat, Tawau, Sandakan (Tongod, Telupid, Kinabatangan and Beluran) and Kudat is also expected to undergo strong weather.

MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
