3,215 people undergo physical checks under Selangor Saring since May

SABAK BERNAM, June 5 — The Selangor Saring initiative, which began on May 22, has conducted physical checks to 3,215 people throughout the free health screening programme.

Selangor Public Health Advisory Council committee member Dr Mohammad Farhan Rusli said that other screenings included 3,157 persons who had blood tests, urine testing (3,206), cervical screening (1,520), stool tests (454), mammography (418), and eye examinations (960).

He said that the number of checks and tests varied as the screenings were not conducted uniformly at all stations and that the participants must first complete the risk assessment.

“They do not have to do the screening if they have no medical history. This method is meant to maximise efficiency while minimising waste, as the screening should be prioritised for those in need.

“However, based on the current figure, we did not expect that many people to have gotten cervical cancer screening,” he said when met at the Selangor Saring programme in Sekinchan today.

The state government had allocated RM3.4 million for Selangor Saring, which is held across the state until September 4.

Up to 39,000 people are likely to benefit from the effort, notably those with a family history of illnesses, overweight individuals, and those who live unhealthy lives.
