Invest Selangor confident all SIBS 2022 booths to be sold out by August

SHAH ALAM, June 4 — Invest Selangor Bhd (Invest Selangor) is confident of achieving its targetted numbers of exhibitors for the upcoming Selangor International Business Summit 2022 (SIBS 2022).

Its chief executive officer Datuk Hasan Azhari said this is based on the good responses it has received for several of its events.

“The total number of booths for SIBS 2022 is 850. For Selangor Industrial Park Expo (Spark) event nearly all of the allocated booths have been sold out. While for Selangor International Expo (SIE) Food and Beverages (F&B) out of the 480 booths allocated 127 or nearly 40 per cent were already sold. As for SIE Medic 30 per cent of the allocated booths have been taken up.

“So based on this very encouraging response we are confident that all SIBS booths can be sold within the next two months,” he said during a visit to the SIE F&B Supermarket Buyers Programme at ST Rosyam Mart in Section 9, here today.

Hasan added that several states have also shown their interest to buy booths at SIBS 2022 to enable their entrepreneurs to showcase their products.

“This is because they realise that SIBS is not just a trade exhibition for Selangor entrepreneurs as it is open for all businesses either in Malaysia or overseas,” he said.

He added with the reopening of international borders post Covid-19 pandemic, SIBS 2022 also anticipated the return of its previous international exhibitors such as from Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand, China and India.

SIBS 2022 will showcase six main components: the Selangor International Expo (SIE) Food and Beverages, SIE Medic, Selangor Industrial Park Expo, the Selangor Asean Business Conference, the Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention and the Selangor Research and Development and Innovation Expo.

Organised by Invest Selangor, the state government-backed trade conference and exhibition series will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from October 6 to 9.

The sixth edition of SIBS seeks to attract at least 30,000 visitors and the participation of 850 booths.

Last year, SIBS achieved a potential transaction value of RM217.6 million and attracted over 25,410 visitors to 787 booths, surpassing the initial set target of 10,000 visitors.
