Deluge for most of Selangor until tonight — MetMalaysia

SHAH ALAM, July 22 — Inclement weather is inbound for eight Selangor districts until tonight, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia)

In a statement issued at 5.15pm, the agency said the districts include Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Kuala Langat and Sepang

“Other states and areas which will be affected include Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Cameron Highlands in Pahang, as well as Muar, Batu Pahat and Kluang in Johor.

“Perak (Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim) will also see strong weather, as will Sarawak including Betong (Pusa, Betong and Saratok), Sarikei (Pakan), Kapit (Kapit) and Limbang (Limbang),” it said.

Sabah will also be affected, with its districts including Pedalaman (Tambunan), Pantai Barat (Papar, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran, Ranau and Kota Belud), Sandakan (Beluran) and Kudat.

The strong weather is expected to persist until 8pm.

MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
