Digital biz roadshow in Permatang targets 200 participants — Exco

SHAH ALAM, July 12 — The Selangor Digital Entrepreneur Roadshow is targeting 200 traders in the Permatang state constituency for the programme when it takes place on August 6.

Its state assemblyman Rozana Zainal Abidin said the programme, held in cooperation with the Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) will expose participants to strategies on how to generate additional income via online business.

“This roadshow will bring the main players including Lazada, Shopee and J&T to open the minds of traders, to add the existing space from physical trading to online trading.

“It also indirectly provides an opportunity to traders to get more sales than before,” she said when contacted by SelangorKini.

At the same time, Rozana admitted that many traders have yet to move to digital trading, despite the availability of the platform.

“In the meeting with Sidec, I was informed that 50 per cent of entrepreneurs still have not been exposed to digital trading, based on the previous series of roadshows in the constituency and other districts before this.

“This is a high percentage, and we must bring about awareness so traders can change their business strategies. This does not mean they have to cease conducting physical business, but instead is an addition of another sector which is online,” she said.

Since its introduction in 2020, the roadshow will visit every district until this September.

The programme is an important instrument in helping entrepreneurs penetrate the international market in an easier and faster manner.

Asides from Lazada, Shopee and J&T, the roadshow will also include working partners like PG Mall, EasyStore, Dropee, Yayasan Hijrah Selangor, the Selangor Digital E-Supply Chain, and the Companies Commission of Malaysia.
