LZS: Increase in zakat collection of 11 pct as of June, target met

KLANG, July 14 — The zakat collection in Selangor has increased by 11 per cent as of June compared to the same period last year, says Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) chief executive officer Mohd Sabirin Mohd Sarbini.

He said as of now, LZS has already reached its targeted half-year collection.

“For the time being, all we could say is that LZS had collected the amount it had targeted, albeit the exact figure is still being audited and cannot yet be disclosed.

“Thank you for the donations, and we hope that new donors or existing zakat donors will continue to contribute to the collection,” he said when met during the Korban Perdana 2022 programme at Bait Al-Hasanah here yesterday.

Mohd Sabirin also invites the public to participate in the Taksir Zakat Month campaign, which runs from June 15 until July 31.

“The campaign aims to raise awareness and motivation for zakat payment through salary deduction or Zakat Harta. There’s still room for the people in the state to fulfil their responsibilities.

“For this campaign, we are working with a number of parties, including the police, who we visited at their headquarters to raise awareness,” he said.
