MB offers condolences to Kedah flood victims, renders aid with volunteer teams

SHAH ALAM, July 5 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has extended his condolences to the flood victims in Baling, Kedah, and dispatched the state Immediate Action Teams (Pantas) to provide assistance.

The teams, provided by various Selangor local authorities, were prepared and sent to Baling to help flood victims.

“The Selangor Team volunteers and Service for Malaysia (Khidmat) volunteers have also been prepared for mobilisation to Kedah as well,” he said in a Facebook post today.

Amirudin added the state government is in contact with the Kedah authorities to provide assistance.

“Please pray for everything to go smoothly,” he said.

Earlier on, Baling district police chief Supt Shamsudin Mamat said a total of 334 victims from nine villages in the area have been evacuated to several relief centres (PPS) as of 2am today.

Similarly Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor urged the State Disaster Management Committee chaired by Kedah State Secretary Datuk Ammar Shaikh Mahmood Naim to declare areas critically affected by the current floods as Level I or II emergency response, so as to speed up operations by state and federal agencies.
