Seven districts receive ICT equipment to improve disaster preparedness

PETALING JAYA, July 24 — Another seven Land and District Offices received information and communications technology (ICT) equipment from the Smart Selangor Delivery Unit (SSDU) today.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Aminudin Shari said the handover of assets comprising smart television, laptops and computer peripherals was aimed at digitalising the district’s disaster operation control centre so that calamity could be handled more efficiently.

“In our visit to Land and District Offices last year during the flood disaster, we found out that its facilities were outdated compared to the state disaster operations control centre in Shah Alam which has very good facilities.

“Therefore we decided that the assets at the district level also needed to be improved. Hopefully, real-time data sharing and information could be delivered faster using these new assets,” he said when met today.

Earlier, he had handed over the assets to the Land and District Offices representatives during the Selangor Penyayang roadshow at Laman MBPJ (Petaling Jaya City Council) here.

The seven Land and District Offices are in Petaling, Klang, Kuala Langat, Kuala Selangor, Sabak Bernam, Hulu Selangor and Gombak.

Prior to this, the Hulu Langat and Sepang Land and District Offices received similar assets during the first instalment of the Selangor Penyayang roadshow series at Padang Taman Kosas in Ampang Jaya on June 19.

Meanwhile, SSDU Strategic Planning director Mazlan Mahadi said the handover of the assets is part of the Smart Selangor Action Plan 2025 initiative.

“SSDU is committed to providing the best digital facilities to enhance the state administration thus benefitting the people in Selangor.

“In addition to focusing on the development of smart infrastructure, SSDU also wants to build good relationships with local authorities to prepare for the transformation of the districts towards Selangor vision to become a smart state,” he said.
