Air Selangor: Water supply recovery to affected areas at 95 pct

SHAH ALAM, Aug 12 — The water supply restoration to the 397 areas affected by an unscheduled water disruption yesterday is at 95 per cent, says Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor).

In a Facebook post, Air Selangor said that the water supply in all affected areas is expected to fully recover at 8pm, today.

“As of 9am today, the water supply recovery in the affected areas has reached 95 per cent.

“The duration of the water supply recovery in the affected areas will vary depending on the location and distance of consumers’ premises,” the post read.

According to the post, water supply has fully recovered in the three areas in Petaling, while Hulu Langat is at 98 per cent and Kuala Lumpur at 91 per cent.

Air Selangor had also advised the consumers who have and will receive their water supply to let the water run until it is clear.

“Air Selangor hopes that consumers who have received water supply will use water prudently to ensure that the recovery process in the affected areas runs smoothly,” it said.

Yesterday, 397 areas in three Air Selangor regions, namely Petaling (3 areas), Kuala Lumpur (172 areas) and Hulu Langat (222 areas), were hit by unscheduled water cut following the temporary shutdown of the Langat 2 water treatment plant.

The temporary closure was due to a pollution incident due to oil spillage at Sungai Semantan, Karak, Pahang, caused by an accident on the KM75.9 Karak-Bentong Highway heading towards Kuala Lumpur.
