PKPS to hold affordable sales at 160 locations until year’s end

By Zareef Muzammil

SHAH ALAM, Aug 10 — The Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) will organise its affordable goods sales in 160 locations throughout the state until the end of 2022.

PKPS senior marketing manager Md Fazir Abdul Latif said the Jualan Prihatin Rakyat initiative will be conducted by mobile lorries, which will also see participation from state representatives.

“The sales will be held from Thursday to Sunday, and will provide an opportunity for people to buy basic necessities including chicken and eggs at a lower cost compared to market prices.

“In addition, we will also be selling fresh beef, mackerel fish, cooking oil, as well as PKPS manufactured-product including biscuits and sardines,” he said when contacted by SelangorKini.

Md Fazir said PKPS aims to achieve between RM5,000 to RM10,000 in sales at each Jualan Prihatin Rakyat location.

Alhamdulillah, the programme has been met with very encouraging responses from locals since its launch late last year,” he added.

Since December 2021, PKPS has conducted Jualan Prihatin Rakyat to alleviate the people’s burden, following the increase in living costs.

A total of 10,000 chickens, 3,100kg fresh beef, 6,200kg mackerel fish and 315,000 Grade B eggs have been sold throughout the programme thus far.

Jualan Prihatin Rakyat offers standard chicken at RM12 each, fresh beef priced at RM35 per kg, Grade B eggs at RM10 per tray and mackerel or sardines (RM8 per pack).
On July 25, state executive councillor for agriculture Izham Hashim said that 80,000 families in the state have benefited from the programme to date.
