Selangor excos express condolences, praise Khalid’s leadership as MB

SHAH ALAM, Aug 1 — Several state executive councillors expressed their condolences to the family of former Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, who died last night.

State executive councillor for local government Ng Sze Han said during the late Khalid’s administration, he introduced policies and guidelines that created a state which has high integrity and efficient governance.

Ng said during Khalid’s administration he was a councillor in the Subang Jaya Municipal Council and recalled how they used his policies and guidelines that earned the trust of the people and civil servants.

“The benefits from his policies can be seen until today. My condolences to his family,” he said on Facebook.

State executive councillor for Islamic religious affairs Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni praised the late Khalid for his contribution to people’s welfare.

“May God bless his good deeds and place him in heaven. My condolences to his family,” he said.

Meanwhile, state executive on public health Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud mourned Khalid’s passing and prayed for his soul to be placed among the pious and faithful.

State executive councillor for investment, trade and industry Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said since the country’s independence, Khalid was Selangor’s first menteri besar under the change of a new state government.

“He has brought many great changes to the legislation and administration that continue to benefit the people. I pray that his soul is blessed by God,” he said.

Khalid, 76, passed away at the Cardiac Vascular Sentral Hospital in Kuala Lumpur, where he had been admitted since April 23 due to an infection of a heart valve.

Born in Jeram, Kuala Selangor, Khalid left behind his wife, Puan Sri Salbiah Tunut, four children and two grandchildren.
