SUNGAI BULOH, Aug 24 — The Selangor government has approved the construction of 215,930 residential units involving 372 projects under the Rumah Selangorku programme since its launch in 2014.

State executive councillor for housing Rodziah Ismail said that out of the total, 29,822 units (86 projects) have been completed and handed over to the homeowners, 18,039 units (52 projects) are under construction and 168,069 units (234 projects) are in the planning stages.

“The state government has continued its efforts to provide affordable homes for the people, especially through the Rumah Selangorku programme.

“Alhamdulillah (Praise be to God), the initiatives have received encouraging responses from people in Selangor who wish to own their own homes,” she said in a speech during the Rumah SelangorKu Seri Kenari key-handover ceremony in Saujana Perdana, here yesterday.

Rodziah said the affordable housing quota offered was in line with data on current demand obtained from the Selangor Housing and Property Board’s (LPHS) registration system.

“As of August 1, 88,158 applications on the waiting list had received housing offers. We always refer to the LPHS data when preparing the homes for the people,” she added.

On July 27, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the state administration would increase the number of affordable homes to help more people own homes.

He said the Rumah Selangorku Harapan and Rumah Idaman programmes had given the people a chance to live in a 1,000-square-foot home that is comfortable and well-equipped.

He said that the goal underlined in the First Selangor Plan (RS-1) include boosting homeownership rates and providing housing that ensures higher family well-being.
