Stormy weather warning in Sabak Bernam this afternoon

SHAH ALAM, Aug 3 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm, heavy rain, and strong winds warning in Sabak Bernam, which will last until 5pm this afternoon.

In a statement released on Facebook at 1.35pm, the agency said similar weather pattern is also expected to hit other states including Melaka, Perak (Hilir Perak and Muallim), Pahang (Raub), Negeri Sembilan (Tampin), Johor (Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Kluang, Mersing and Kota Tinggi) as well as Sabah — Pantai Barat (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran and Kota Belud), Sandakan (Kinabatangan) and Kudat (Kota Marudu and Kudat).

The agency issues a warning when there are signs of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm/hour which are expected to occur over one hour.

Thunderstorm warnings are short-term and valid within six hours after they are issued.
