Affordable sales programme offers quality products, addresses rising living cost issue

SHAH ALAM, Sept 14 — The state government has introduced the Jelajah Ehsan Rakyat (JER) initiative to alleviate the people’s burden in facing the rising cost of living and food items.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the effort has provided the people in Selangor with an option to buy fresh goods at a cheaper price compared to the market.

“This is part of our effort to tackle the food security issue in the state as well as to offer help to the people who were affected by the economic slowdown.

“Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) will continue to resolve problems faced by various parties from the past until now,” he said on Facebook, today.

The affordable sales programme is being held at selected locations throughout the state, from 9am until 1pm, beginning from August 31 until December 31.

The initiative, managed by the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) aimed to alleviate the people’s burden due to rising costs of food and has benefitted 80,000 people since it began in December last year.

On August 30, Amirudin announced that Selangor has allocated an additional RM10 million for the food intervention programme that focuses on six basic items including chicken, beef, fish, chicken eggs, rice and cooking oil.
