Balakong rep invites B40 group to apply for Jom Shopping Deepavali vouchers

SHAH ALAM, Sept 6 — The Indian communities from the low-income (B40) group in the Balakong state constituency are invited to apply for the Jom Shopping vouchers for the upcoming Deepavali festival.

Its representative Wong Siew Ki said they can redeem the RM100 shopping voucher starting from September 2 to 30, at the Balakong community service centre by bringing several important documents.

She said the documents are a copy of the applicant’s and spouse’s identity card, the death certificate for the deceased spouse and proof of the husband and wife’s income.

“Among the requirements are the applicant must be a registered voter and reside in Balakong with a gross household income of less than RM1,500 for single individuals and RM3,000 for family.

“Aside from that, the family members must not be registered or have received vouchers from any state constituencies,” she said on Facebook.

She added that recipients, spouses or family members who are recipients of the Bantuan Kehidupan Sejahtera Sejahtera (Bingkas) and Skim Mesra Usia Emas (SMUE) are not eligible to apply for the voucher.

The Jom Shopping Raya initiative was introduced by the state administration to help the B40 group and is a long-term effort to look out for the welfare and well-being of the people. The aid is channelled during the different festive seasons.
