MBSJ spends RM1.6 mln to build new food court in Puchong Permai

SUBANG JAYA, Sept 25 — The Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) has allocated RM1.6 million for the development of Medan Selera Puchong Permai, here.

Its mayor Datuk Johary Anuar said the food court was built on a 0.4 hectares late night bazaar site, which previously housed 127 traders before it was destroyed by fire in February 2019.

“Following the incident, we have rearranged the land usage and business activity by redeveloping the area with a total cost of RM1.6 million.

“This is the first food court in Zone 14 Residents Representative Council (MPP) area. The food court also provides a cashless transaction in line with the digitalisation agenda,” he said at the press conference after the launch of the food court.

Also in attendance were state executive councillor for public health Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud and Subang Jaya deputy mayor Mohd Zulkurnain Che Ali.

The construction of the food court was completed in April and houses 20 stalls for traders equipped with various facilities including a prayer room, toilet, and dedicated parking lots for persons with disabilities (OKU) and motorcycles.

Johary added that aside from providing facilities for the community through the food court, MBSJ has also built a 1.1 hectares public field in the area with a cost of RM500,000.

“Hopefully, the new food court could offer a variety of food to customers while the public field could be used as a recreational hub for residents there and in nearby areas.

“With the launch of the food court, we hope it will be able to contribute more income to the traders, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.

At the same event, Johary also handed over certificates of appreciation to 18 traders who obtained Grade A in the local council’s food premises grading programme this year.
