MetMalaysia issues thunderstorm warning in four Selangor districts

SHAH ALAM, Sept 6 — Four districts in Selangor are expected to experience thunderstorms and heavy rains until 7pm today.

In a statement released by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) at 4.15pm, the agency said the affected districts include Hulu Selangor, Gombak, Hulu Langat and Sepang.

Similar weather conditions is also expected in other states and territories, including Putrajaya, Kedah (Kulim and Bandar Baharu), and Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim)

Elsewhere, Terengganu (Marang, Dungun and Kemaman), Pahang (Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Lipis, Raub, Bentong, Temerloh, Kuantan, Bera, Pekan and Rompin, and Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Kuala Pilah, Rembau, Jempol and Tampin) will also see inclement weather.

MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
