Kuis is now a full-fledged university known as UIS

SHAH ALAM, Oct 14 — The Selangor International Islamic University College (Kuis) has been upgraded to a full-fledged university and is now known as Selangor International University (UIS) effective today.

Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof said the upgrade was consented to by the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah who also presented the official instrument to upgrade Kuis to UIS to Higher Education Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Abdul Razak Jaafar at Istana Bukit Kayangan, here yesterday.

Abdul Aziz said the upgrade proved that UIS is an institution that is comparable to other institutions of higher learning (IPT) and he hoped that the university will continue to maintain the momentum of excellence and continue to produce excellent professionals as well as great in the Islamic religion. 

“UIS must continue to take comprehensive steps and as well as seize opportunities to be able to prove that 27 years of experience in managing higher education and realising success after success when it becomes a university.

“MAIS would also like to urge parents and students to choose UIS as one of their universities of choice to further their studies in Selangor,” he said in a statement.

UIS is fully owned by the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) and was established in 1995 under the Private Higher Education Institutions Act 1996.

It offers various programmes at Foundation, Diploma, Bachelor, Master and Doctor of Philosophy levels and meets the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) in Islamic Studies, Business Studies, Islamic Banking, Education, Communications and Information Technology.
