GOMBAK, Oct 11 — The Selangor government remains committed to providing aid to its people and ensuring that they continue to lead a stable lifestyle.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said despite facing several challenges, such as the water issues, the Selangor government has consistently put the welfare of its people first.

“Are we free from problems? Admittedly, we have faced several challenges, but sometimes it is due to misunderstandings or misinformation.

“For example, take the water issue. We have experienced several water cuts this year but it was not as bad as the previous years because we managed to increase the manpower and allocation to overcome the pollution issues.

“This is the outcome of our past mistakes that we have addressed and improved for the welfare of the people,” he said at the Jelajah Selangor Penyayang roadshow in Kampung Selayang Baru, Selayang Baru, here last night.

Amirudin said that despite criticism from Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) that the state would bankrupt, Selangor also has succeeded in developing the state’s administration.

“They (Umno and BN) always pointed out that Selangor will be declared bankrupt and that development projects could not be implemented in addition to losing the status of a developed state.

“Selangor has been administered by Pakatan Harapan for 14 years and not only it is a developed state, but it is also the highest contributor to the national revenue compared to the BN-governed states.

“We are proud not just by the figures that we had achieved but also through various programmes that were introduced to help the people,” he said.
