KLANG, Oct 23 — The Selangor government has launched the Skim Insurans Am Selangor (Insan) general insurance scheme at the Jelajah Selangor Penyayang (JSP) roadshow at the Sultan Suleiman Stadium, here today.
Officiated by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, six million people are covered by the insurance scheme, with the state government covering the full cost of the premiums.
Amirudin said he is confident that the target of one million people to be registered under the scheme could be met as over 40,000 people have signed up since it was open for registration on October 1.
“By the end of this year, we aim to have one million people in Selangor signed up for the insurance programme. Additionally, we will also work on getting six million people registered.
“The programme will be improved from time to time for the benefit and welfare of the people,” he said at the launching ceremony at the roadshow, here today.
Amirudin had also handed over Insan insurance certificates to five recipients.
Commenting further, he said that the Wavpay e-wallet could be used to apply for the programme and that the approval time would be less than 48 hours.
“Selangor residents could submit their application through Wavpay or visit any community service centre for further assistance.
“The state representatives have been tasked to help with the registration process or members of the public could also visit the Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) counter at the JSP roadshow,” he said.
To qualify for the scheme, the recipient must either be born in Selangor or be a voter in the state. The applicant could apply for the scheme using their MyKad or MyKid number or the registered address in Selangor.
The Wavpay e-wallet app can be downloaded via the App Store or Google Play.
