SIBS 2022: Tremendous accomplishments for medical community at SIE Medic

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 11 — The four-day-long Selangor International Expo (SIE) Medic that ran concurrently with the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2022 was a huge success for its participating companies and individuals from the medical community.

According to Medkad Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Ezuan Yaacob, the event was very rewarding both for him and the company, which occupied two booths as they surpassed their target within the first two days.

“Even on the first day itself, we achieved five times more than what we were targeting for the event, which includes a deal of over RM15 million,” he told Selangor Journal during the exhibition.

Ezuan added that in the previous instances when his company participated in SIBS, Medkad was a part of other exhibitors and only occupied a small portion of the overall exhibition.

However, for this year the health card startup, which focuses on digitising the management of medical benefits provided by employers, decided it would go bigger as it has seen the potential that SIBS offers.

“We are a big supporter of SIBS and if possible, we might rent a bigger booth the next time or perhaps try to be one of the major sponsors for next year,” he said.

Similarly, for medical supply company iElder.asia, their first exhibition at SIBS has been fairly successful with plenty of opportunities to spread the company’s brand name and awareness to other organisations and consumers.

“SIBS has been good for us as we had the chance to network and even managed to reach out to many B2B and B2C individuals,” said its marketing, events and partnership manager Eugene Lee.

He said that iElder.asia, specialising in geriatric and home care products, is glad that SIBS proved to be fruitful and allowed them to follow up on leads as they look forward to working together with new partners they met at the summit.

Lee added that for SIBS next year, they hope there will be more stage events as it would broaden their opportunities in interacting with other industry players, and for there to be a different platform for iElder.asia to showcase themselves on a bigger scale.

Held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from October 6 to October 9, SIBS 2022 featured approximately 906 booths from 623 companies, with over 40,000 visitors during its duration.

Asides from SIE Medic, the summit’s other main components include the SIE Food and Beverages, the Selangor Industrial Park (Spark) Expo, the Selangor Asean Business Conference (SABC), the Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention (SDEC), and the Selangor Research and Development and Innovation Expo (SRIE).

Three other events also took place simultaneously, which are Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention (SDEC), the Selangor International Culinary Festival (SICF), and the Selangor International Healthcare Conference (SIHC).
