SHAH ALAM, Oct 11 — His Royal Highness the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj has decreed the state government must continue administering Selangor and stay focused on efforts to ensure the well-being of its citizens.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said during an audience with Sultan Sharafuddin at Istana Bukit Kayangan in Shah Alam this morning, he presented the state’s government’s preparations to deal with potential flooding situations.

“During the audience, I also discussed the state’s economic recovery efforts, welfare assistance and preparation for the upcoming 2023 Selangor Budget, which is scheduled to be tabled during the State Legislative Assembly this year,” he said in a statement today.

Yesterday, Amirudin said he will seek an audience with His Royal Highness today, to ask for royal consent over the state administration’s decision to not dissolve the State Legislative Assembly.

He said Selangor will maintain its position as the Pakatan Harapan coalition does not want to take any chances out of concerns over the floods.

This comes after Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced the dissolution of Parliament yesterday afternoon, which paves the way for the 15th General Election.

On October 5, the Pakatan presidential council said the state governments of Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Penang would not be dissolved this year.
